 e\, NACAC will present a virtual conference on transracial families for pa
 rents and professionals.\nTransracial Families: Building Positive Racial I
 dentity features the following sessions:\n\nHistorical Racism in Child Wel
 fare: How History Informs the Present with J. Toni Oliver\, retired child 
 welfare professional/consultant — In this session\, attendees will learn a
 bout the beginnings of the child welfare system from a racial lens\, inclu
 ding how the system has affected Black and Indigenous families and childre
 n. Then the presenter will cover how professionals and parents can change 
 systems and address institutional racism.\n\nAffirming Children's Identiti
 es with Nathan Ross\, North American Council on Adoptable Children/transra
 cial adoptee — In this session\, attendees will learn practical ways to in
 corporate multicultural-affirming strategies into child welfare practice a
 nd parenting. While we continue to learn about the importance of establish
 ing healthy racial and cultural identities for children\, finding solution
 s that can be infused into everyday interactions can be challenging. Combi
 ning best practice approaches with real stories of identity formation\, th
 is session helps attendees understand the intricacies of working with chil
 dren through a multicultural-affirming lens by highlighting lessons learne
 d and offering tips that participants can use immediately.\n\nFirst\, Do N
 o Harm: Raising Children in Transracial Families to Be Strong and Resilien
 t with Julie Martindale\, transracial adoptive parent — Building a healthy
 \, thriving transracial family takes education\, values training\, and sup
 port from the whole village. Explore the lessons learned by one transracia
 l family as they made mistakes and celebrated successes along the way. Hea
 r practical tips and helpful advice that have stood the test of time.\n\nF
 acilitated Discussion — Join an open discussion moderated Nathan Ross and 
 Julie Martindale to share your questions\, ideas\, and suggestions with ot
 her attendees.\n\nRegistration is $50 per person (or couple viewing sessio
 ns together) for NACAC members or $60 for non-members. Attendees can parti
 cipate live or listen to a recorded version of workshops.\n\nIf you can't
