  attack. Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches a 5-step action plan to off
 er initial help to young people showing signs of a mental illness or crisi
 s\, and connect them with the appropriate professional\, peer\, social\, o
 r self help care.\n \nAnyone can take the Youth Mental Health First Aid co
 urse\, but it is ideally designed for adults who work with young people\, 
 ages 12-18 - teachers\, coaches\, leaders of faith communities\, social wo
 rkers\, and other caring citizens. \n\nSometimes\, the best first aid is y
 ou.\nTake the course\, save a life\, strengthen your community.\n \n \nMen
 tal Health First Aid is listed in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Se
 rvices Administration's National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and P
 ractices.  Studies show that individuals trained in the program increase t
 heir knowledge of signs\, symptoms\, and risk factors of mental illnesses 
 and addictions\; can identify multiple types of professional and self-help
  resources for individuals with a mental illness or addition\; increase th
 eir confidence in and likelihood to help an individual in distress\; and s
 how reduced social distance to individuals with mental illnesses.\n\nThe M
 HFA Blended Virtual Course is comprised of two parts:\nMHFA Self-Paced Int
 roduction: The first portion of the course is to be completed through the 
 self-paced online portion (accessible through the MHFA Learning Management
  System)\nMHFA Skills Application: The second portion of the course is tau
 ght virtually by a certified MHFA Instructor and focuses on how to apply t
 he MHFA skills.\nYou must complete the MHFA Self-Paced Introduction (appro
 ximately 2 hours) before attending the MHFA Skills Application (approximat
 ely 6 hours) portion of the course.\n\nPlease keep an eye on your junk mai
 l for emails from Mental Health First Aid or directly from your trainers w
 ith information on how to complete your MHFA Self-Paced Introduction. \n\n
 If you are unable to complete the MHFA Self-Paced Introduction\, or virtua
 lly attend the MHFA Skills Application portion of the course\, please info

 ning signs for a range of mental health concerns.\n\nObtain information on
 :  depression\, anxiety\, trauma\, psychosis and psychotic disorders\, sub
 stance use disorders\, and self-injury.\n\nUse a 5-step action plan to hel
 p an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional help.\n\nI
 nterpret the prevalence of various mental health disorders in the U.S. and
  the need for reduced negative attitudes in their communities.\n\nApply kn
 owledge of the evidence-based professional\, peer\, social\, and self-help
  resources available to help someone with a mental health problem treat an
 d manage the problem and achieve recovery.\n\nThis training is free\, but 
 you must register to attend as spots are limited.\n\n \nSeating is limited
  to the first 30 to respond\, so please register early.  \n\nA certificate
  of completion will be presented following the completion of the training 
 course evaluation which can be used to seek approval for the State of Nebr
 aska Continuing Education Units for LMHP\, LIMHP\, LMFT\, Social Work and 
 Professional Counseling.
