Understanding who our kids are from the inside out:
This session will take a look at the kids who are coming into foster care with a strong focus on the neurobiological impact of trauma on the brain, utilizing the DVD “The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics” produced by the Child Rauma Academy, featuring Dr. Bruce Perry.

The difficult job of parenting traumatized children:
This session will look at the challenges that traumatized children present in everyday life within a family, and highlight strategies for behavior management which can being to improve neural functioning. Attendees will walk away with a new way of understanding and responding to what we’ve often thought of as Reactive Attachment Disorder.

Registration begins at 8:30am

Our staff includes Resource Family Consultants who specialize in one-on-one relationships, which provide foster parents with emotional encouragement, skill reinforcement, and parenting strategies unique to providing out-of-home care.

Scholarships

The Nebraska Foster & Adoptive Parent Association (NFAPA) offers scholarships to adoptive, foster, guardianship or kinship youth who wish to further their education beyond high school or GED.

Become a Foster Parent

There is an ongoing need in Nebraska for families willing to share their hearts and their homes with children who require temporary foster care. There is also a need for “forever” families for our waiting children, especially teens, who are available for adoption.
