Guardianship in Nebraska

Many families call in requesting information on Guardianship and what a guardian does.  The Supreme Court of Nebraska website has a wealth of information on Guardianship.  It will talk about the required reporting, forms, classes and laws.  Nebraska Supreme Court Website

After January 1, 2016 the Office of Public Guardian conducts all of the training classes.  Click here for more information.  There is a list of in-person classes.

October 1, 2019.  The Nebraska Office of Public Guardian has a new ONLINE Guardian/Conservator Education course!  Cost is $20 per person.  Click here to register or copy and paste:  https://nopgeducation.nebraska.gov/.  This is a great way to learn about guardianship and conservatorship  from the comfort of your home!

Resource Family Consultants

Our staff includes Resource Family Consultants who specialize in one-on-one relationships, which provide foster parents with emotional encouragement, skill reinforcement, and parenting strategies unique to providing out-of-home care.

Scholarships

The Nebraska Foster & Adoptive Parent Association (NFAPA) offers scholarships to adoptive, foster, guardianship or kinship youth who wish to further their education beyond high school or GED.

Become a Foster Parent

There is an ongoing need in Nebraska for families willing to share their hearts and their homes with children who require temporary foster care. There is also a need for “forever” families for our waiting children, especially teens, who are available for adoption.
