1. WELCOME TO THE TIPS-MAPP PREPARATION AND SELECTION PROGRAM

TIPS MAPP Meeting 1 acquaints leaders and participants with the TIPS-MAPP Program and each other. This meeting explains the process of becoming a foster or adoptive parent and the legal foundation for child welfare services. With a focus on safety, well-being and permanence, you will meet several children and parents (in a video) who have been involved with foster care and adoption.

Other required trainings that need to be completed by the end of class

DHHS Human Trafficking - approximately 1 hour.  Snap a picture of your 'test results" and send to your instructor to show you have completed it by session 5.  If you are a couple and watching it together, make sure you list both of your names so it shows on your "test results".

Information for those in our Foster Parent Pre-Service Training

Resource Family Consultants

Our staff includes Resource Family Consultants who specialize in one-on-one relationships, which provide foster parents with emotional encouragement, skill reinforcement, and parenting strategies unique to providing out-of-home care.

Scholarships

The Nebraska Foster & Adoptive Parent Association (NFAPA) offers scholarships to adoptive, foster, guardianship or kinship youth who wish to further their education beyond high school or GED.

Become a Foster Parent

There is an ongoing need in Nebraska for families willing to share their hearts and their homes with children who require temporary foster care. There is also a need for “forever” families for our waiting children, especially teens, who are available for adoption.
